Huibert Boumeester killed himself after the 50bn deal to buy ABN Amro plunged RBS and its then chief execu- tive, Sir Fred Goodwin, into crisis. The 49-year-old father of two, who was believed to have been paid 600,000 a year, wrote in a suicide note to his wife that he did not feel he could go on. Yesterday an inquest concluded that the Dutch-born financier had taken his own life. The hearing in Windsor, Berkshire, was told that Mr Boumeester had retired from his job on the board of ABN Amro in April last year and had decided to take a break from banking. His family became concerned when he failed to turn up for a job interview on 22 June this year and they alerted police. When officers entered the family home in Belgravia, London, they discovered Mr Boumeesters gun cabi- net was empty with the key still in it. Police tracked his last mobile phone signal to Windsor Forest, Berkshire. They launched a major search operation but the financier was not found. Mr Boumeesters body was discovered in woodland at Winkfield in Berkshire on 28 June, after two dog walkers reported seeing an abandoned Range Rover. It is believed he died on 21 June. PC Amy Tapping described in her state- ment finding the body sitting against a tree. A shotgun was dug into the dirt with the barrel pointed at the bankers neck. His wife, Frederique, said in a statement to Berkshire Coroner Peter Bedford that Mr Boumeester had been seeing a psy- chiatrist for depression but had been making good progress. She said: I thought he was feeling better and was looking for a new job. In the note found on the body, Mr Boumeester blamed an immeasurable depth of depression. Kate makes her exit by backdoor GOLDEN couple Kate Moss and Jamie Hince clearly wanted to keep a low profile last night, leaving celebrity haunt Nobu via the back door. Despite wearing a conspicuous golden fur coat, the 35-year-old supermodel didnt look keen on hogging the limelight as she headed haughtily for her car without even flashing a smile for the cameras. Dressed in a chic combo of skinny black jeans and matching top coupled with brown boots, she was out with Kills guitarist Hince, 40, and pals until 2am. Early night then...
