Mr Johnson was dubbed a knight on a shining bicycle when he came to the rescue of Franny armstrong as she was being mugged by three hoodies with an iron bar. But snow, host of Channel 4 News, claimed the Mayor would have had a harder time if the woman he helped was being attacked by men. Mr Johnson stepped in when Ms armstrong, 45, a documentary maker, was being assaulted by three girls in Camden on Monday night. He was riding past on his bike and chased after them, shouting: what do you think you are doing? and branding them oiks. The girls dropped the iron bar and ran off. But snow, 62, who came across a simi- lar incident earlier this year when he was riding through a well-heeled area of Camden, said the Mayor had been lucky. snow had seen a man in his twen- ties bashing a womans face into the bonnet of a car and thought twice about intervening before speeding off. The veteran broadcaster recalled: I hear her screams and the mans shouts, and by the time my bicycle is abreast of them, she is upright, in tears, her face badly marked. I instinctively intervene and ask if she needs help. The man is in a hyper-paranoid, violent state, and turns fast and menacingly on me, shouting and cursing, and I take to my bike in flight. snow said: I think it was Boriss good fortune that they were women. Mine was a young guy. Boris took a justified risk and I take my cycle helmet off to him.
