Shot teens mum calls for armed cop patrols Itsapanto asPammy hitsLondon THE mother of a teenager critically injured in a gangland shooting claimed today that armed cop patrols would have prevented it. Jheni Barker, 47, a lecturer from Hackney, called for armed police on local estates to act as a deterrent to gangs. Her comments came after Met Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson with- drew plans for routine firearms patrols in gun crime hot spots because of angry protests from community leaders and members of the Mets governing body. Officers from the CO19 firearms unit had been accompanying neighbourhood police teams on estates in Hackney, Brixton, Tottenham and Haringey. His decision came a day after three teenagers -- two 14-year-old boys and Mrs Barkers 15-year-old son Kieon -- were shot on an estate in Hackney. Asked what effect armed police would have had on Monday nights shooting Mrs Barker said: This wouldnt have happened. And maybe if it had happened there would have been some sort of response and those responsible would not have just disappeared. I would have [armed police] back. We have got to take back the streets. You cant have children getting shot like that. My sons got enough stop-and- search slips to paper his wall with but where were [the police] on Monday? One of the 14-year-olds was injured by a bullet grazing his ear while the other was lucky to be alive after a bullet narrowly missed his heart. All of the boys attend the Stoke Newington Media, Arts And Science College. Mrs Barker told of her devastation at seeing her son injured, insisting he was no gang member, and said he may still need another operation. She added: They had just come out of the youth club. Theyre very much little boys if you know them. He doesnt know why it happened. All I know is that some- body attempted to murder my son. by kevin widdop Supporting role: Pammy with Alan in Mayfair club Whisky Mist PAMELA ANDERSON looked like she was ready to crawl into bed as she left a London club last night. The former Baywatch stars bright pink dress contrasted with her bleary eyes as she climbed into a waiting car outside Mayfair bar Whisky Mist. But a source at the club, which is frequented by Premiership footballers and Prince Harry, said the 42-year-old actress didnt even have a drink. They said: She wasnt drinking at all. She stayed about an hour, chatting to a male pal and dancing a bit. She was accompanied by Alan the latest star of the Doritos Guitar Hero TV advertisement, who also took her on a shopping spree around the capital. Anderson was helping Alan, who is seen in the adverts aspiring to be a rock star, to achieve that status by being the sexy blonde rock chick on his arm as part of the promotion. Earlier that day, she also visited the New Wimbledon Theatre where she will make her pantomime debut this Christmas as the genie in Aladdin.
