With the game scoreless in the 47th minute, Zamora was presented with the perfect opportunity to break the deadlock, but could only locate row Z when six-yards from goal. That miss sparked City into life and they appeared to have wrapped up three points when Joleon Lescott and Martin Petrov struck twice in the space of seven second-half minutes. But Fulham have happy memories of Eastlands, having come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in their Great Escape season and almost repeated the trick yesterday. Within eight minutes of Petrovs second goal in as many games, Fulham were back on terms thanks to Damien Duff and Clint Dempsey. Zamora played a full part in his sides improbable recovery, toiling away up front and handing an out-of-sorts Kolo Toure a hell of a going over. Afterwards Hodgson accepted Zamoras (right) miss was horrific but knows he offers his side an outlet few others are capable of providing. He said: Unfortunately people who watch on the TV will see the miss and they wont see the 96 minutes and 45 seconds in which he was absolutely magnificent. It should have been seen as the crowning moment of a great performance but instead it is going to be seen as a glaring miss and a blot on his copybook which is sad for him. But if you want a good example of the character and resilience of this team and its ability to bounce back, Bobbys performance in the last 30 minutes shows that. It proved another frustrating afternoon for City who have now drawn their last three league games, hitting their chances of establishing a top-four place. Hughes admitted: We were 2-0 to the good and we should have seen the game out but unfortunately we allowed them back in the game and given them a lift. It was how we dealt with balls into the box and a guy in Dempsey who is acknowledged as good in the air - and we havent dealt with it. Credit to Fulham though, they are organised and made the game difficult for us. Cole, returning from knee ligament damage, blossomed in central midfield during Chelseas 5-0 hammering of Blackburn --in front of Fabio Capellos assistant Franco Baldini at Stamford Bridge. Cole, who also confirmed he will soon sign a new four-year contract, said: Over the years I have learned to be patient with myself and the chances come, especially at a club like this. I am determined to get back to playing for Chelsea and England and today was a good step for me. I just try and do my best and enjoy my football. I genuinely love playing the game. It was brilliant just to be out there again. I enjoyed playing in a more central role -- it was the first time in my career. There are a lot of ups and downs in football and Ive had eight or nine months of sitting on my backside watching, so this was like a breath of fresh air for me. Playing behind the two strikers suits me down to the ground. If I was a manager I would put myself in that position. But Im not going to start saying I want to be playing here, there and every week. Im just happy to be playing for Chelsea. My job is to help the club win something this year. And on the subject of a new contract, Cole revealed: Were talking at the moment. I love it here. The club want me to stay, so there should be no problems. I feel like this is my home. There is so much to look forward to and I am so excited about just playing for Chelsea and England.
