IN&OUTTONIGHT 16 Tuesday, 20 October 2009 London Lite and chips for main and cheesecake for dessert. We kept conversation quite light- hearted, touching on more serious sub- jects like previous relationships, but without discussing them in depth. We have different lifestyles in some ways -- Leon lives on a farm outside London and I live in the heart of the West End -- but it didnt bother me at all. If the will to see each other is there it doesnt matter if you live in different areas. Leon was really easy to be with and the evening just flowed. I suddenly looked at my watch and it was 3am. We both thought my watch was wrong as neither of us could quite believe how quickly the night had gone. It was a really good first date with a little bit of kissing, too. I hadnt neces- sarily consciously mapped out the evening, but I think from the moment we met, I had a feeling we were going to get on well. I texted Leon when I got home and we then arranged to meet up the next day. The second date was very comfortable, and we were holding hands from the start of the evening. Were meeting up again very soon and I do have a positive feeling about this one. Leon is a true gentleman as well as being a proper bloke and Im really looking forward to seeing him again -- plus he looks really good in jeans! LOVE Diddates Single FILEWhat happened when we sent two Lite readers for a date scaling a climbing wall? Samantha Rea, 31, a cheerleading coach from the West end, chose to date Leon Gelderblom, 33, a business operations manager from ascot, as she got a good feeling about him. We sent them wall-climbing to see if they got to grips with each other. OncE I chose to date Leon we werent able to meet up for a week because of our busy schedules, but by the time of the actual date wed been chatting on Facebook a few times a day. Leon is a very fun, sociable guy so I think it was normal for him to drop me a line saying, Hey, were going on a date! and we just started chatting from there. I thought from the emails that there was definitely potential -- hes really funny , and that is important to me. Plus Id got a really good feeling from his profile. He seemed like a decent guy. My first impression was, Oh my good- ness hes tall!. Im 5ft 6in, so at 6ft 3in he towered over me. As it happens, I didnt have too much time to dwell on his height because I was sidetracked by my nerves: our date was indoor wall-climbing and I was scared. We were thrown in at the deep end and had to work together by holding each others rope while the other climbed. From the start I felt like I could trust Leon and he was very supportive and encourag- ing when I struggled on some of the harder climbs. Its important to me that a guy can get out there and do things and I think we both gave the task a good go. As the session came to an end and we went to our respective changing rooms, I felt really glad that Id conquered my fears. But my relaxed mood didnt last long. Leon took about 10 minutes longer than me to get changed after our session, and while I was waiting for him I thought hed legged it. I neednt have worried though. Throughout the climbing there had been some very subtle flirting which picked up a bit more over dinner. We had a really good time at Bodeans, the barbecue restaurant we chose. The food was great and we both ordered steak SHESAYS: Fancy going on a date with this hottie, courtesy of Lite? Thousands are looking for you at Convivial Keralan: its all smiles at Pallavi CHEAP DATE Since we returned home from a magical holiday in Kerala my boyfriend and i had been craving the cuisine unique to the southern indian state. The fragrant spices and delicate coconut sauces are so distinctive but not on the menu at the average high street indian restaurant. So to find Pallavi (Cross Deep Court, heath Road, twickenham, tW1, 020 8892 2345) was a moment of wonder. its like a little slice of Kerala, with cycle rickshaws and elephant ornaments as dcor and incense and spices filling the air. We ate masala dosai, pancakes filled with potato masala and served with coriander and tomato chutney (4.50) along with sag paneer, spinach and cheese (4.95), and a delicious Kerala fish curry (7.95). it all tasted as it had in india -- even the lovely staff were Keralan and all as friendly as the Keralans wed met on our trip. Well definitely be back.
