Wenger added: Clichy got a little knock on his ankle and Diaby was kept out of the French squad because of an ankle problem as well. But the problem to Diaby should be very minor. Eduardo is not available, he is too far away. Almunia could be available for the game. It is 50-50 but Cesc is back in the squad. Fabianski is available and will be in the squad for the weekend. As for Nasri, he could be back in the group for the Liverpool game. If all goes well he could be in the team. Defender Thomas Vermaelen has been a revelation at both ends of the pitch since joining the club from Ajax in the summer. Fabregas is already a big fan: It is really good for a midfielder like me if we have a centre-back who can pass the ball along the ground because it gives you so much time and so much space on the ball. give Brum blues PREMIER LEAGUE TOMORROW, 3PM KEY MEN DAVID JAMES PORTSMOUTH HOW many erratic goalkeepers do Tottenham need? Carlo Cudicini and Gomes have already displayed the ability to perform moments of gravity-defying brilliance and bone-headed stupidity, so why Harry Redknapp feels the need to add the Daddy of inconsistent goalkeepers to his ranks is anyones guess. That said, if Pompey are to survive they will need their veteran to steer clear of injury. JERMAIN DEFOE SPURS THE pint-sized poacher returns to his former club with his current club, who are also his former club. It sounds a complex situation, and it is, but despite a career which has had as many twists as spaghetti junction, Defoe has somehow maintained his focus enough to ensure hes scored goals wherever hes been. Hes probably in the form of his life at present and a hand injury shouldnt prevent him from biting the hand that used to feed him. Palacios (left) was a key player in the 1-0 win over neighbours El Salvador on Wednesday, a result that earned Honduras World Cup qualification for the first time since 1982. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp expected Palacios to fly back for training today but the team have been ordered by the military government -- who forced president President Manuel Zelaya to leave the country in his pyjamas in June -- to attend a celebration party in the capital, Tegucigalpa. Interim president Roberto Micheletti is under pressure from the USA -- whose 2-2 draw against Costa Rica ironically secured their qualification -- to step down but hopes to ride on the back of the World Cup success to stay in charge. An exasperated Redknapp said: Wilson was supposed to arrive this morning. We are not blaming him at all. He would have had to go back with the rest of the squad. BY NEAL COLLINS Rooney not fit but Van is back in goal WAYNE ROONEY is out of Manchester Uniteds Premier League clash with Bolton at Old Trafford tomorrow. Rooney (above) picked up a calf injury during Englands World Cup qualifying defeat in the Ukraine last weekend. And despite missing Wednesdays win over Belarus and flying straight to Uniteds Carrington training ground for treatment, Rooney is not ready for tomorrow. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping Rooney will be available for Wednesdays Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow, although Liverpool at Anfield on 25 October is more likely. Ferguson said: Calf injuries can be troublesome. We are trying our best to get him fit for Wednesday but I have my doubts. Wayne should be fit for Liverpool. We know how difficult these things can be so we will not be taking any chances. Goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar is scheduled to make his first appearance of the season for United tomorrow after breaking two fingers during a pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich in July.
