The Buy One Get One Free -- Later offer means customers will be encouraged to pick up the second product at a later date. Shoppers will take an item under a BOGOF offer and receive a voucher for the second product at the till. The scheme covers fruit, vegetables and dairy foods that run the risk of being thrown away if they are not used within days. Environment Secretary Hilary Benn called earlier this month for BOGOF schemes to be scrapped. The Governments waste watchdog estimates that we throw away 4.1 million tonnes of food each year, at an average cost of 420 per household.
