LITESPORT London Lite Wednesday, 7 October 2009 47 BREAKING NEWS... Zolas on the Napoli radar NAPOLI have asked West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola (above) and two other senior officials to quit and join them. The Italian Serie A club yesterday sacked coach Roberto Donadoni after a poor run of results and they are hoping to exploit the growing tension between West Hams owners, CB Holdings, and the management trio of Zola, technical director Gianluca Nani and chief executive Scott Duxbury. Walter Mazzarri has been appointed as Donadonis replacement, but it is understood that the clubs ambitious owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is prepared to make another change next summer -- or even before then, should Zola decide to leave. The West Ham trio have said they wish to remain at the club. Truckinghell... Things like that live with you forever. Haunted: Terry admits he is still hurt by the penalty miss in Moscow and Ronaldos sly wink during the 2006 World Cup exit Record-chasing Roo has dream of being a Sir Bobby Dazzler THEN THE WORLD WAYNE ROONEY has his eyes fixed on overhauling Sir Bobby Charltons England goalscoring record -- and is taking tips from the man himself in order to do so. The Manchester United striker boasts an impressive return of 25 goals from 55 England appearances -- a record made all the more remarkable when you consider he went 10 games without an international goal between October 2005 and March 2007. The 23-year-old is back in the groove under Fabio Capello having scored 11 times in his last 10 outings and has time on his side if he is to overtake Sir Bobby, who scored 49 times in 106 appearances. I spoke to Sir Bobby last week about it and we discussed playing and scoring for England, said Rooney. It would be a dream come true to do it and would mean so much to me. It would also be fantastic if two Manchester United players were to be one and two in the list. But dont rule out Michael Owen (40 in 89) he still has a chance of the record. While Rooney flies out to the Ukraine for Englands penultimate World Cup qualifier, his Manchester United teammate Ben Foster will be indulging in a spot of soul searching, after reports this morning suggested he was involved in a furious bust-up with Sir Alex Ferguson following Saturdays 2-2 draw with Sunderland. The England international had committed a string of high-profile errors against Arsenal and Manchester City, but still maintained the public backing of his boss prior to the gaffe which saw him comprehensively outmuscled and outjumped by Kenwyne Jones. Warner was speaking at the Leaders In Football summit at Stamford Bridge, where all guests were given a free bag promoting the rival Australian bid. Warner, who holds three votes as CONCACAF president, went on to suggest David Beckham or The Queen should play a bigger part. Warner said: I came here and was shocked that I got a bag for Australia at the entrance. I wouldnt have allowed it. Why isnt there a bag for England? People are looking at these things and asking themselves questions. This is the type of thing that loses you a bid. I feel England do not exploit their attributes. I would have been more aggressive. If I had the Premier League, Beckham and The Queen, there would have been many things I could have done for the voters. I have friends in England and know about the trauma of 2006 -- I am saying if they do not get their act together they will lose. You have no divine right to anything -- you have to earn it. Trinidad-based Warner also attacked the number of foreigners playing in Europe, saying: We need quotas. Liverpool should not be able to field a side without an English player. And a salary cap should be introduced. BY GEOFF TEATHER Gerasagent chargedbyFA THE FA have charged agent Sam Stapleton over his part in the transfer of Zoltan Gera to Fulham last year.
