London Lite Tuesday, 6 October 2009 21 The Departed Film4, 9pm (2006) ITS hard to work out whos double- crossing who in this superb film from director Martin Scorsese. Billy Costigan is an undercover cop who has infiltrated the gang of a crime boss. The only trouble for Costigan is that the crime boss has a mole who has infiltrated the police force. Stars Jack Nicholson and Matt Damon, above, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Silver Streak Film4, 6.50pm (1976) IF YOU can get past the un-PC nature of the above photo of stars Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor, this film is a pleasant way to waste two hours. Billed as a parody of Hitchcock, it follows book editor George Caldwell and his belief that he has seen someone murdered and thrown from the train he is travelling on. Problem is, he cant seem to convince anyone. Escape From New York ITV4, 11.10pm (1981) KURT RUSSELL, above, puts in a dependably strong performance (why isnt he rated more highly as an actor?) as the criminal Snake Plissken in this futuristic action flick. Manhattan is now a maximum security prison -- like an enormous Alcatraz -- and a plane carrying the US president has just crashed there. Plissken is the only one tough enough to mount the rescue operation.
