28 Monday, 28 September 2009 London Lite Embraceyourinnerheadgirl S INCE the super-addictive US TV series Gossip Girl exploded on to our screens last year, fashionistas everywhere have been tuning in to catch up on the high-drama storylines and to check out the seriously covetable clothes. While youre impatiently waiting for Series 3 to begin, Series 2 is out today on DVD (28.68, amazon.co.uk), to satisfy your lust for their looks. The Manhattan label-led, rich-bitch style the show champions has had us all salivat- ing over Serenas high fashion frocks and copying Jennys edgy, rock chick leathers. But the look were really aspiring to is Blairs preppy, head-girl chic. Plus, with it being September, we felt like paying homage to that back-to-school look those high soci- ety New York girls seem to do so well. Classic, cute and impeccably flawless American labels such as Ralph Lauren, Milly and Tibi all feature heavily in Queen B (Blairs) wardrobe and there are a few basics you will need in order to nail this butter-wouldnt-melt schoolgirl look. First off, you will need a stylish blazer, to slip on in autumn before temperatures plummet to wintry, coat-wearing lows. Opt for schoolgirl navy -- preferably with a crest sewn on to the breast pocket -- or old-school stripey. Wide deckchair stripes will really capture the look, and outlandish plaids will add a punkier edge to the classic style. We found a fab black and charcoal stripe blazer at Topshop (125). Luellas navy and red blazer is an investment at 475 but totally hits the spot, and River Islands red plaid version (54.99) offers your preppy jacket a slice of bad girl. Classy, sensible frocks can be transformed into Gossip Girl territory with a little help from your accessories. Add bold, block colour tights to inject some pizzazz, Chanel- esque French Sole ballet pumps and twee hairbands by Cherry Chau and youre ready for a lunch date in Central Park. Or layer ruffle neck and pussy bow blouses under quirky knitwear with short pleated skirts and over-the-knee socks for a sexy but innocent outfit. Other key items on your Gossip Girl list should be strings of pearls, tweed jackets, trench coats and berets. Of course it doesnt have to be all so prefect-perfect. You could take a leaf out of character Jennys book instead, and be a little bit rebellious. If this is more your thing, then mess up those carefully blow-dried locks and add a hefty dose of kohl eyeliner. by REbECCA bOyCE Dress 50, Rare THISWEEK Free yogurt FROZEN yogurt, innit?
