London Lite Wednesday, 23 September 2009 11 Its a perk being a university lecher, saystopacademic Vice-chancellorlikesabitofogling AttrActive young female students are a perk to be enjoyed by male academics -- but only from a safe distance, according to a leading university vice-chancellor. Dr terence Kealey of Buckingham University suggested academics should adopt the lap-dancing club policy of look but not touch. His comments, contained in a humour- ous article on the seven deadly sins of university life in the times Higher education magazine, seem certain to provoke criticism. they have already been condemned by the National Union of Students as completely unacceptable. Dr Kealey says: Most male lecturers know that, most years, there will be a girl in class who flashes her admiration and who asks for advice on her essays. What to do? enjoy her! Shes a perk. He adds that on American campuses, girls wanted relationships with heroic sports stars but on english campuses, academics can be heroes. As a result, some female students fantasised about male lecturers and flaunted their bodies which you should admire daily to spice up your sex, nightly, with your wife. Yup. im afraid so. As in Stringfellows, you should look but not touch. Olivia Bailey, womans officer at the National Union of Students, said: regardless of whether this is an attempt at humour, it is completely unacceptable for someone in terence Kealeys position to compare a lecture theatre to a lap-dancing club. The cut, the finish, the craftsmanship, the materials. Theyre just not comparable to high street. And they last. Showbiz party or local boozer? I dont drink, so a local boozer is not my idea of fun. Lily Allen or Lady GaGa? Neither are really my cup of tea but at a push Lily Allen, just cos she seems less manufactured. Pie and mash or sushi? Pie and mash. I hate anything cold or uncooked.
