Mayor Boris Johnson will be joined by model Kelly Brook and Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy in the ride around Londons famous sights. The event takes place on Sunday from 10am to 4pm. The route, along The Mall, Northumberland Avenue and Victoria Embankment into the City, will be closed to cars all day. Previously known as Freewheel, this years Skyride is longer than before, with a new loop past the Bank of England and St Pauls Cathedral. The nine-mile route also takes riders past Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and the Tower of London. It will feature St Jamess Park with river views from Embankment. Professional BMX and mountain bikers will perform tricks along the route and cyclists will be able to take a course in stunt riding, get a bike makeover, and compete in a sprint-style race. The winner of Saturdays London leg of the Tour Of Britain will be presented with the yellow jersey. The Mayor said: Its been a great summer of cycling, with more and more people discovering that ours is a fantastic city in which to go by two wheels.
