The 54-year-old chief executive won a standing ovation as he walked on stage to unveil the new Nano. I now have the liver of a mid-20s person who died in a car crash and was generous enough to donate their organs, he told the crowd in San Francisco. So Im vertical, back at Apple and loving every day of it. The hotly-awaited Nano is the first in Apples ipod range to include a video camera. It also includes an FM radio, which Apple has been criticised for not having included in previous devices. A SACKED accountant has become an internet sensation after sending an email ranting at bosses and his colleagues. Gareth Jenkins was fired by PricewaterhouseCoopers after failing the Institute of Chartered Accountants exams. The trainee wrote a vitriolic parting shot, railing at corporate drivel and company events. I look forward to never having to attend an event in which Our Beloved Leaders tell us weve massively exceeded budget ... instead we get the treat of listening to Coldplay while quotes from the greatest leaders of our times are played, he wrote. PHIL COLLINS today revealed he will never drum again because he is suffering from a painful spine injury. The former Genesis star cant even hold his sticks after years of sitting in front of a drumkit. Collins, 58, whose hits include In The Air Tonight, said: After playing drums for 50 years, Ive had to stop. My verte- brae have been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in. It comes from years of playing. I cant even hold the sticks properly without it being painful, I even used to tape the sticks to my hands to get through. But this is not the end of his music career, as Collins told fans: Dont worry, I can still sing. He also hinted that the Princes Trust series of all-star rock concerts could be resurrected. The Princes Trust Rock Gala was held for the first time in 1983 at Londons Dominion Theatre. A show held five years later at the Royal Albert Hall was recently released on DVD, and Collins has been watching it with his children. The concerts featured performers including Collins, Eric Clapton, Sir Elton John, Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, The Bee Gees and Ultravoxs Midge Ure. Collins said there had been discussions about reviving the Princes Trust con- certs. Speaking at a celebrity reception hosted by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Highgrove, he said: Its fantastic to see Bryan Adams here today, he performed too, but there was a core group, the house band, which was me, Eric, Elton, Sting, Midge and Mark Knopfler. I think there is talk of trying to do another one. We built up a live reputa- tion, but people dont wait to see people live now like they used to. There is music on tonnes of televi- sion channels and that means we hear a record constantly for a month and then dont hear from the act. ApplesJobsbackinthepublic eyetounveilnewNanoiPod THE new Nano is an evolution rather than a revolution. It adds a video camera (oddly, it cant take still photos), FM radio and pedometer. While video quality is good, it is not high definition. The radio is also impressive, allowing listeners to pause live radio, and theres a neat tagging feature to identify and buy songs. The unit is stunning with new aluminium colours. If you were considering an 8GB 115 Nano anyway, its highly recommended. However, this isnt the revolution that Apple fans were hoping for.
