It was a mixed group of all my single mates where we rented an amazing house in France and spent every day by the pool. We taught the boys how to cook and wash up, they taught us how to talk in endless TV and film quotes (why is it that boys like to do this?). But even more enlightening was gossiping with the boys about their girl-related dramas. One of the guys had secretly been in unrequited love with the same girl for ages -- she never showed any interest in his advances, so he gave up and started going out with someone else. Within weeks of this relationship starting, the original girl has declared she likes him and wants him to start dating her. Naturally he is in a quandary -- hes having fun with his new girlfriend, but its too much of a temptation to turn down this girl he has liked for ages. Of course he wanted our advice -- will she go cold again as soon as he is available, or has she actually liked him all along and has only just realised it? Its a typical girl thing to do, only start fancying someone when you cant have them. I should know, Ive been guilty of it in the past and I also have to admit that I spent all week ignoring Mr Pariss texts even though I like him. Girls are complicated creatures, but we only behave this way to protect ourselves. My advice to boys is to forget about not wanting to look too keen -- if you think shes worth it then persevere, you will get there in the end. I certainly hope Mr Paris continues to be persistent and I am planning to text him back before my post-holiday glow fades... FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER.COM/ROMILLY_LITE A FTER dismissing two potential girlfriends for being too materialistic and too young, my friends say Im too harsh on the girls silly/brave enough to go out with me. And last week it became clear that perhaps they were right, as I ruined another promising hook-up. Id been out with Lauren once before and wed agreed to meet for Sunday lunch. Wisely, I got wrecked the day before, crashing at my mates place. My phone woke me at 1pm. It was her. Where was I? Before I could answer, it was time to be sick for the first of 14 times that day. I was already half an hour late but, apologising profusely, promised Id be in Soho in 20 minutes. So I hailed a cab. I was suddenly aware a shower might have been good. Ill nip into H&M and pick up a cheap T-shirt, I decided. Which would have been a plan, if I hadnt groggily bought one two sizes too small. Late and with no phone, I had no option but to wear the shirt. And it looked like a crop-top! Lunch was predictably awful. She wasnt chuffed about waiting for an hour and bemused as to why Id arrived looking like Bruno. But I managed to trump all that when I nodded off during one of her stories, earning a punch in the arm. Mercifully, we were near the end of our date, so I paid the bill by way of an apology. Fortunately, through a friend, Ive met another girl -- one who I cant see myself falling asleep over lunch with. FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER.COM/CHARLIE_LITE gamesguessingandfunAll VE just got back from holiday with a big Romilly Chambers No wonder my girl got shirty Charlie Parrish year, it was all very jokey. We discovered we both work in the same street -- I can even see his building from my window -- which was a weird coincidence. We didnt chat about work too much though -- I dont really know what he does and he doesnt really know what I do -- we had far more interesting things to talk about. Jamess family is a big thing in his life which I thought was awesome. Im from Cape Town and recently got back from a trip there to see my family so we talked a little about where I grew up. It came up in conversation that Im on an ancestral visa. I dont know if James was checking that I wasnt planning to flee the country. I have no definite plans to leave, but I know my home is in South Africa. Jamess age is quite a good match for me as Im 20 and hes 22. There were a few kisses towards the end of the evening, which was a perfect end to the night. I didnt think a blind date would go that well. It felt too good to be true and we met up again less than 48 hours after the first date. I would probably never have met James if it wasnt for Lite, even though he works right next door to me -- London can work in strange ways sometimes.
