The demand came as the row over the air strike by US planes in Kunduz province, in northern Afghanistan, threatened to escalate. The strike was ordered by Germany, and Ms Merkel said she wanted to know whether civilians were killed. The raid has caused uproar in Germany, which will hold parliamentary elections this month. Atallstory, saysSarkoaide TWENTY short people were ordered to stand behind Nicolas Sarkozy to make him look taller while delivering a speech at a motor technology plant near Caen, it emerged today. They had all been vetted by aides of the French president, who made sure no one was more than his height of 5ft 5ins. It is thought he wanted to avoid being caught using a footstool, as happened in June. But a spokesman for Mr Sarkozy called the claim absurd. McCurrychipsawayatcourtbattle AN EIGHT-YEAR legal battle is set to continue between US fast food giant McDonalds and a restaurant named McCurry in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The defendant claimed McCurry, established in 1999, stood for Malaysian Chicken Curry, but a High Court judge ruled the prefix Mc and the use of colours distinctive to the McDonalds brand could confuse customers. McCurry won a retrial in April which is due to start. I killed my kids A MOTHER stabbed her daughters to death to wreak havoc on her ex-hus- band, a court heard today. Hotel worker Rekha Kumari-Baker first stabbed daughter Davina Baker, 16, 39 times as the girls slept at home then turned to Jasmine Baker, 13, and attacked her, the jury was told. Prosecutor John Farmer said Ms Kumari-Baker wanted to take revenge on ex-husband, David Baker. The 41- year-old lashed out with a knife bought from Asda in the attack in June 2007 at her home in Stretham, Cambridgeshire. After the killings she told a special constable friend: I have done some- thing terrible, adding, I have killed the kids, the children are dead. She later denied making the comments. At Cambridge Crown Court today Ms Kumari-Baker pleaded not guilty to charges of murder. The defence argue she was guilty only of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished respon- sibility because of a serious abnor- mality of mind. The trial is expected to last at least two weeks. BY GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN PHILLIP GARRIDO recorded two CDs full of love songs hed written about his fascination with young girls. The man accused of kidnapping Jaycee Lee Dugard gave the discs to Marc Lister, a former customer of his printing business three years ago, because he knew people in the music business. The CD, entitled Voices Are Real, contains 20 songs that Garrido, left, reportedly wrote while he was in prison. One disturbing lyric apparently blames a little girl for making him fall victim to her sexual allure, and reads: The way she walks, yeah, subtly sexy/What can I do? I fall victim too/A little child, yeah, look what you do. Mr Lister said: Its a little bit twisted. Its not right. Meanwhile, residents of South Lake Tahoe, the California town where Jaycee was kidnapped in 1991, staged a march yesterday that mirrored a similar event 10 years after the schoolgirl disappeared at the age of 11.
