The uniformed police attacked an impromptu Nato checkpoint near Camp Souter, the main British base in the capital. One witness said four British armoured vehicles were parked on both sides of the main east- west highway into Kabul and a convoy of police fired an RPG in the air before surrounding the vehicles, which then drove off.
