From tomorrow, the high- definition version of the console, the Xbox 360 Elite, will sell for 199, down from 229. The move comes just days after Sony introduced a new, c h e a p e r ve r s i o n o f i t s PlayStation 3 console for 249, cutting 50 off the price. The move means Nintendo is the only firm not to have cut its console price -- 179 for the Wii. Manufacturers hope the cuts will kick-start the console market. Sales of the video games played on consoles have been on the decline on both sides of the Atlantic. The latest industry figures showed a 5.7 per cent drop in year-on- year video games sales in the UK in the first half of this year. Currently Nintendo holds the number one position, followed by Microsoft and the Xbox 360, then Sony. Microsoft already offers film and TV downloads to its console but later this year will also allow people to watch live Sky TV through it. The Xbox 360 will also allow users to access their Twitter and Facebook accounts. Microsoft also recently revealed plans for a new camera add-on, called Project Natal, which allows players to take part in games simply by moving around in front of their TV. POLICE today warned dog owners to keep their pets away from the Notting Hill Carnival this weekend. In a message aimed at owners of dangerous pit bull-type dogs, officers said they would seize animals they considered a threat to safety. Last year police seized 20 suspected pit bulls and turned away 120 people with dogs. Chief Inspector Jo Edwards, a police Carnival spokeswoman, said: Owners have been known to goad dogs into fighting each other at Carnival, which is not only dangerous but against the law. An angry dog breaking out into a crowd could have serious consequences. index.html2.html3.html4.html5.html6.html7.html8.html9.html10.html11.html12.html13.html14.html15.html16.html17.html18.html19.html20.html21.html22.html23.html24.html25.html26.html27.html28.html29.html30.html31.html32.html33.html34.html35.html36.html37.html38.html39.html40.html41.html42.html43.html
