As ever the rotten tomatoes fly at a fearful rate, but theres one ice-cool cucumber to meet the millionaires head on in negotiations, and look out for the man who wants 2.5m -- more than anyone has ever asked for on the show. Megastructures: Built From Disaster Five, 8pm ThIs new series details how designers learn from disasters, and we begin tonight with sports stadiums. The tragedies of heysel, hillsborough and the Bradford fire were all, in retrospect, preventable, and have been carefully studied to ensure they are never repeated. The experts explain how modern structures are proof against everything from earthquakes to rhythmic crowds at rock concerts. We also get to see the Birds nest olympic centrepiece in Beijing, plus a mouthwatering look at the magnificent nou mestalla in Valencia, which the citys football team will soon make their home. F IRST up, a declaration: Im probably not the best person to ask about the comeback of Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimers self-dubbed celebrity showbiz quiz. Their comedy double act always seemed to me a lamely redundant impersonation of Morecambe and Wise. Even when they first appeared on the comedy scene their gibber- ish words and surreal non sequiturs felt too laboured to be funny and left me hankering only for the classic sketches of Eric and Ernie. But Shooting Stars had good ratings in its day, back in the Nineties, so there are millions wholl tell me that was just my deficient sense of humour leav- ing me to miss out. Now as theGame for a laugh: Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer return Emmerdale ITV1, 7pm For Faye it seems to be good news when she witnesses ryan and mark (maxwell Caulfield, right) having a nice, friendly chat. Is mark starting to feel for his son as a father should? meanwhile, it seems Val runs the risk of being barred from the pub, but if she explains the reason for her deception properly Diane may just reconsider. Shows Christine Bleakley -- in pervily disturbing fashion, and Bob Mortimer laughs hard and often to plaster over the gaps between the gags. Plus, of course, we have Ulrika-ka-ka (as they love to call her) Jonsson playing the dumb blonde variant on the straight man. Am I laughing? I tried, really I did, yet this feels not refreshingly silly but stale and stilted. Unsavoury jokes about race, Fred West and Hitler crack the air of clownish innocence. Still, to each their own. Try the following. Whats Van Morrison named after? A car? No, a supermarket. If that exchange leaves you wanting more, tune in. Me? With my face left as animated as the Sphinxs, Im perplexed as to why the BBC decided to revive this instead of blooding new talent. 11.00 homes Under The hammer (s). 11.30 Cash In The Celebrity Attic (r,s); BBC news; Weather. 12.15 Bargain hunt (r,s). 1.00 BBC news; Weather (s). 1.30 regional news And Weather (s). 1.45 Doctors (s). ruth upsets heston. 2.15 murder, she Wrote (r,s).
