Chloe Madeley, 22, was arrested when police were called to an accident in Barnet and found a Peugeot 206 on its roof after apparently hitting the parked Mini Cooper. The Peugeot driver was not at the scene but a computer check revealed the cars owner to be model Chloe. She was arrested at the family home early on Sunday in Hampstead before being breathalysed and charged. Police confirmed she had been bailed to appear before Hendon magistrates on 2 September on a drink-driving charge. She later issued an apology saying she had been really stupid and said she accepted full responsibility for her actions. She then had to reportedly break the news in a phone call to her furious parents, who are on holiday in France. A friend said: Richard and Judys feeling is, Thank God no one was hurt. But theyre not very happy and have given Chloe a stern talking-to. Earlier this year pictures were published of Chloe, who wants to become a TV presenter, apparently smoking cannabis at a party last August, weeks after her father had publicly proclaimed his children were anti-drugs. She said: They were just sitting on a wall and a police van stopped right in front of them. Officers got out of the van and said there had been stabbings in the area so they would need to search them. Mrs Shepherd said her sons returned home straight afterwards and she could tell something was wrong. She added: Jadan was angry and thinking, What did I do wrong, why was I a suspect? Looking at him, you can see he is not a suspect. If they want to stop and search fair enough, but a responsible adult should have been present. I was only two minutes away. She made a complaint to the Metropolitan Police who said the Directorate of Professional Standards was investigating. Police are legally able to search children under the age of 10 for stolen or prohibited items, such as weapons and drugs. But Dr Mike Lindsay, from the Childrens Rights Alliance, said: The age of criminal responsibility is still 10.
