He was held at Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey, on saturday after his name appeared on a security alert. Today Khan, 44, criticised Us airport officials, who have been accused by human rights groups of profiling Muslims. He said: I was really hassled at the airport because my name is Khan. While all around people from India and Pakistan were vouching for me, these guys just wouldnt let me through. He was reportedly released after Indian diplomats were able to vouch for him. Jean Nouvel was commis- sioned by developer Land Securities to design the 500m One New Change office and shopping complex. But in 2005, the Prince alleg- edly wrote to Land Securities, calling for an alternative architect to be considered for the site. Mike Hussey, then London director of Land Securities, said: He suggested we should meet his architects. He hadnt seen the scheme, he just complained about the selection of [Nouvel]. He didnt want a modern- ist. Prince Charles is alleged to have offered his architectural advisers to the firm. Mr Hussey declined. A spokesman for Clarence House said Charles was concerned to retain St Pauls inspirational status. It was announced last week that five of the 10 firms shortlisted to draw up new plans for the Chelsea Barracks site have links to the Prince.
