THANDIE NEWTON regularly knocks em dead on the red carpet, so its a surprise to hear her fashion influence used to come from fishermen. The 36-year-old actress, left, grew up on the Cornish coast and took inspiration from the fishing trawler community. She said: My mums wardrobe was always full of great stuff, as my parents lived in Zambia in the Seventies. Later, when we lived in Cornwall, I used to wear gorgeous African batik skirts with a fishermans smock -- that was my look! Bet her husband Ol Parker is glad she didnt turn out as a fishwife... IS SARAH HARDING calming down her party lifestyle? Surely not. But it was odd to see her having a very early night after going to Mahiki nightclub with boyfriend Tom Crane. They began their evening with dinner at Nobu last night before heading to the Mayfair nightspot to celebrate the birthday of one of Toms pals. Instead of falling out of the doors at 4am, as were used to seeing, the singer and Tom left just after midnight. While Sarah had not spilled a single drink down her see-through top, Tom looked like he might need a headache tablet or two this morning. She had to be up bright and early today to keepintment in Mayfair at Daniel Hersheson in Conduit Street. Were told: Sarah wasnt drinking last night as shes knackered from working flat out at the moment filming the new St Trinians movie. She had to be up at 7am today to make her hair appointment before heading straight to the film set. Presumably normal service should resume shortly. London Lite Friday, 14 August 2009 9 SPiBLOGAll your gossip from Lites army of citizen reporters THE JLS boys have settled into the high life nicely. Only two of the lads were out last night, but they still racked up a very impressive bill at Maya nightclub in Soho. Aston Merrygold and Marvin Humes spent 6,612.50 at the bar, splashing 2,450 on seven bottles of Cristal champagne, 2,500 on a couple of Cristal magnums and 800 on two magnums of Grey Goose vodka -- and a 862.50 service charge! Nowthatsvery sharpcomedy THIS is one way of DRAWING a crowd... or at least entertaining them with a comedy SKETCH. Noel Fielding wielded a giant sharpener as he went to work on the pencil head of his DJ partner Dave Brown last night. The pair entertained the crowd at Vibe Bar for the Brick Lane Takeover in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. But the night later turned sour for Mighty Boosh star Noel at the events afterparty. Our spy said: He began crying on his friends shoulder at the far end of the room but no one could understand why. Everyone was staring at him because it was so strange to see someone who is normally in such high spirits look so low. He barged past everyone, grabbed his bag and storm out of the bar. We dont know what LEAD to his behaviour but we hope hes going to HB all right.
