G UY RITCHIE has found himself at odds with the Nimby brigade after cheesing the locals off with the din created by his Mayfair pub. Living next door to the hot- test celebrity boozer in town is clearly taking its toll on his neighbours, who have had sound-monitoring equipment installed after complaining about the racket. The 40-year-old film director could even risk losing his licence if the council decides there is too much noise. The Punch Bowl attracts huge numbers of punters thanks to Guys regular stream of celeb pals -- eve- ryone from Prince William to Justin Timberlake has popped in for a pint. Perfect for a night out, but perhaps not so per- fect if youre trying to get to sleep next door. Guy has made a regu- lar habit of holding late-night lock-ins and hosting raucous enter- tainment such as live Irish folk bands. Punters have also been filling the pavements outside during the warm summer months. A source said: The neighbours are fed up with the racket, which sometimes goes on into the early hours. Westminster council con- firmed they had received 37 complaints about The Punch Bowl, although Guy has tried to placate neigh- bours by moving punters inside by 9pm and employing door staff. A microphone has now been installed in an upstairs flat next door to monitor the sound levels. A council spokesman told us: Managers at the pub are aware of this activity and it will take two weeks to complete. Guy was spotted in a caf near his pub yes- terday with his new f l a m e M e l l a n y Gandara. It seems the noise fuss hasnt damp- ened his appetite for romance. 8 Wednesday, 12 August 2009 London Lite Sleepless residents wireGuy forsoundMicsmeasurepubnoise By Alistair Foster (alistair.foster@thelondonlite.co.uk), Lucretia Munro Recorded: the Punch Bowls noise levels are being monitored by a Westminster council microphone (circled) after complaints Who we saw doing what with who last night... LONDONeye Quiet day: Guy Ritchie and Mellany Gandara yesterday Gullivertravels onthebuses...WHILE the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio bleat about getting their photo taken (while insisting on dining at high-profile restaurants and drinking at paparazzi-besieged bars), Hollywood funnyman Jack Black has been quietly getting on with it in south London. The 39-year-old has been in town for a while now, filming his lead role in Gullivers Travels. But the family man eschews superstar trappings, steering clear of the usual celeb haunts. He even takes the bus... what a down-to-Earth guy!
