Wildest Dreams BBC1, 7.30pm tHE wannabe wildlife film-makers get their first taste of underwater camera work with a visit to the island of Zanzibar. they start off with the irresistible prospect of getting up close and personal with our brainy, snouted friends, the dolphins. but then after that its into the deep end in every sense. their mission: a snorkel dive for footage of the whale shark. these are actually said not to eat humans, but still the prospect of taking a swim with the 40ft-long creatures is one to sort the men from the boys, as the competition heightens in intensity just past the halfway stage of the series. Uncovering the mys- tery of this dark char- acter eventually reveals a scandal with haunting c o n s e q u e n c e s f o r Cattrall and the three sisters. That the solu- tion comes without too much dif ficulty -- mostly legwork through public records -- suggests for all those years they were too hurt to want to do anything but forget the man. Yet the story has to be told to lay to rest the ghosts of the past, and that makes for riveting viewing. Cattrall didnt pack light for her travels round the North, and on the trail of the truth the most stylishly dressed genea- logical detective ever knocks on door after door of formida- ble blue-rinse matrons. They scarcely miss a beat in greeting the glamorous screen diva and inviting her in for tea. All the women I meet are amazing! But a lot of the men are disappointing, is Cattralls withering verdict -- in true Samantha style -- before the programmes climax of wrench- ing emotional power.
