He wore a melting pot of trends to the private view of Rankins awesome new exhibition, Live, at The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. MW went for a Panama hat, a red lumberjack shirt under a pinstripe waistcoat under a thick, olive green blazer, a black belt, blue jeans and a brown woven leather bag. Somehow the smrgsbord rocknrolled, so, ladies, its time to teach your boys Breatheinandturnheads BLUE 110, Ray-Ban at Specsavers, 020 7580 5115 TORTOISESHELL 130, Christian Dior at retrosun.co.uk FUCHSIA 2, New Look PINK 175, Oliver Peoples at Sunglass Hut GREEN 150, Luella by Linda Farrow BLACK AND CLEAR 15, Urban Outfitters Includes standard PENTAX single vision lenses to your prescription. IN&OUTTONIGHT S PRAY-ON dresses dont exactly spring to mind when youre in search of a flattering, easy-to- wear garment to throw on without a second thought. Yet with the return of the figure- squeezing Eighties body-con trend, thats exactly whats happened. Okay, so we arent talking about rocking a Herv Lger bandage dress to do your weekly shop. The watered-down version of the catwalk trend is all about tight, stretchy tube dresses that are essen- tially an extended jersey vest or tee. Some are nothing more than a long vest and should be attempted only by the very lean and leggy, or at least with leggings, while others afford a little more modesty and coverage. These cheap and cheerful dresses come in colourful floral prints, classic stripes or bold block colours and generally share only two major requirements -- they must be short and they must be tight. But it seems that these tricky criteria havent put you off -- far from it. When we hit central London this week we spied lots of stylish Lycra-clad ladies with their bottoms only just covered in vampy tube dresses con- sisting of an alarming lack of fabric. American Apparel, which pioneered the look with its Flashdance style, should be your first port of call. Take your pick from classic leotard-esque dresses to strapless, one-shoulder, short- sleeve, long-sleeve and scoop- neck styles (from about 35). They come in an array of tribal prints, eye-popping primary colours, neon shades, glitzy lam and even sheer spandex. With this much choice you could kit yourself out with a different dress for each day of the week. Also check out Miss Selfridges collabora- tion with Hed Kandi, which has created a collection of these seriously sprayed-on dresses in a range of ikat and graphic prints (from 35). Made for party- ing in Ibiza, they leave little to the imagination, so approach with caution -- these dresses will get you noticed. Motel Rocks also has lots of these tube dresses in nauti- cal sailor stripes and vintage- look floral blooms (from 39) with cute design details such as low- scoop backs and bows. Breathe in girls, its time to spray on some summer style.
