LITESPORT RAYMOND DOMENECH has told Patrick Vieira: Play regularly for Arsenal and Ill pick you for France. Vieiras dream is to lead his country at the World Cup finals in South Africa next summer -- but he has yet to feature in their qualifying campaign. The 33-year-old, who left Arsenal for Juventus in 2005 before moving to Inter Milan, is now reported to be keen on areunionwithArseneWenger after playing just ten times in Serie A for Jose Mourinhos side last season. France boss Domenech doesnt care where he goes -- as long as he is playing regularly. He said: He has to be play- ing at club level. Youd have to askPatwhetherArsenalisthe right choice for him. I really hope he will start playing, whether its at Arsenal or Inter. To perform well in the Frenchteam,Patneedstoplay a lot to feel good, to get back to captain of the French team. We know it and Pat knows it, he has to be playing game after game, multiplying the matches, to get back to his level. Vieira has played in three friendlies for France since the 2006 World Cup, but he missed Euro 2008 and has yet to fea- ture in the current World Cup campaign. Although he has enjoyed a reasonable pre-sea- son at Inter, Domenech left him out of the squad to travel to the Faroe Islands for a World Cup qualifying tie next Wednesday, claiming that he needed players who were operational. Ironically, Domenech called up Tou- louses 19-year-old central midfielderMoussaSissokofor the first time ahead of Vieira. Sissoko is now a target for Tottenham following Vieiras decision not to go to White Hart Lane. London Lite Tuesday, 4 August 2009 33 LITE&BITTER Gotanaxetogrind?Doithere... Spurs have been following the French Under-21 international for some time as he was recommended by former sporting director Damien Comolli before he left the club last year. They have stepped up their efforts since Patrick Vieira made it clear he is not interested in leaving Inter Milan for White Hart Lane. Sissokos transfer will be funded by the 13m sale of Darren Bent, which should be concluded today. Sunderland assistant manager Eric Black said: Were very close.
