One person was injured in the blaze at the Thomas Fairchild pri- mary school in Hoxton, east London and almost 90 per cent of the Victorian building was wrecked. Almost 100 firefighters fought the blaze from 2pm and they finally got it under control at just after 9pm. All the schools three floors, its basement and its roof were badly damaged. The Fire Brigade said nothing was being ruled out, includ- ing the possibility of arson. Locals watched as flames shot more than 40ft into the air, and posted photographs and video foot- age of the fire on internet sites such as YouTube and Twitter.
