The 32-year-old former England midfielder is loving life at Craven Cottage under Roy Hodgson and is ready to put pen to paper on a new contract that would tie him to the club until 2011. Ahead of tonights Europa League third qualifying round, first-leg tie against FK Vetra in the Lithuanian capital, Murphy revealed: It is a case of getting the paperwork done and finalising a few little details. The manager wants me and I want to spend the rest of my career here. Theres no doubting that. So often bypassed by the long-ball game played by previous manager Lawrie Sanchez, Murphy has thrived under Hodgson, and his influence has grown since Jimmy Bullard left for Hull in January. Murphy, whose headed goal at Portsmouth two seasons ago kept Fulham in the Premier League, believes he is part of an ambitious club who begin their first European campaign in seven years tonight. The former Tottenham and Charlton schemer, said: I get on great with the manager. The team is moving forward. The club is moving forward. Were looking towards another productive season. Im the captain. What more do I want? Im just completely content. Defender Paul Konchesky revealed that with FK Vetra being somewhat of an unknown quantity, the teams preparations will be as thorough as ever in the build up to the game. Ive never been out to Lithuania and I dont think many of the other players have either, said Konchesky. Its going to be a first for most of the team. Its going to be a hard test as we dont know too much about FK Vetra but when we get out there well have videos to watch and a team meeting. Weve been preparing for this game like we would for a Premier League game. We need to win and hopefully well come back to the Cottage with a goal advantage having not conceded any. The first season I joined we were fighting relegation weve come a long way.
