Christine Hart has been accused of verbally abusing the bully who she says used her child as a human punchbag. The 38-year-old asked the pupil to please stop hitting Arthur after she dropped the boy off at school. But she was stopped by a teaching assistant who reported the matter to the headteacher. Miss Hart was told not to enter the school gates until further notice and to attend a hearing with governors to discuss her conduct. She was warned she could face a six-month ban from O r l e a n s I n f a n t S c h o o l , Twickenham, for causing a nuisance. Miss Hart said: I am being punished because I stood up for my son when the school appeared to be doing nothing about my complaints. The school issued a statement saying pupil safety was para- mount and all bullying proce- dures had been followed. Miss Hart, a journalist, said Arthur had been bullied since he started at the school in September. She claimed she once saw her son being attacked at a party in the school hall. One boy ran up to him and started using him as a punchbag, she said. Other boys then ran up to him, grabbed him round the neck and arms and he was being hit. Miss Hart said she had tried to handle the situation by inviting the tormenter to tea. When this didnt work she decided to con- front the youngster. I approached him, knelt by his side, made eye contact and said, Please stop hitting Art, she said. Miss Hart says the boy agreed to stop before she was marched to the headteachers office. Headmistress Pip Utting said: We cannot discuss individual cases especially when investiga- tions may be in progress.
