Before long we had tunes blast- ing out of the speakers, a G&T in our hands and the wind in our hair. I was converted immediately -- this is the only way to holiday. We pulled into the marina and after a quick swim in the turquoise water, we gathered on deck to watch the sunset with another G&T. Although you can self-cater on board, we decided to eat out. With the euro making france and Spain ridiculously expensive this year, I was struggling to find a holiday to fit my budget. So when a friend suggested hiring a yacht to sail round Turkey, I thought he was mad. But thanks to Turkey being outside the eurozone, and with enough of us to split the cost of hiring two (yes, two) huge yachts, it was easily affordable -- a 50ft yacht costs 3,000 per week in July, with a skipper an extra 835. Total cost per person, for 10 peo- ple, including skipper is just 385. Better still, two of my friends are qualified skippers, so we wouldnt have to pay for someone to sail the yachts. It took less than five minutes to convince me to hop on board. roll on opulence, luxury -- and that scene from the Duran Duran rio video.
