THEATRE Jerusalem RoyalCourtTheatre HHHHI HENRY HITCHINGS IN Jez Butterworths energetic new play, the green and pleasant land of england envisioned in William Blakes hymn becomes a fiesta of bucolic misrule. Set in an obscure part of Wiltshire on St Georges Day, it rejects the sterility of a world governed by Asbos, health and safety regulations and the micromanagement of pleasure. Johnny Byron (Mark Rylance) is a former daredevil biker and defiantly anti-authoritarian drug user who proves a curiously heroic figure when the police threaten to bulldoze his mobile home. Rylance is astonishing and has first-rate support, including Mackenzie Crook who excels as his sidekick, Ginger. There are weaknesses -- the story is thin and a little long -- but, as well as moments of gut- busting humour, the play is lit by a profane intelligence that zeroes in on the pedantry of the nanny state. index.html2.html3.html4.html5.html6.html7.html8.html9.html10.html11.html12.html13.html14.html15.html16.html17.html18.html19.html20.html21.html22.html23.html24.html25.html26.html27.html28.html29.html30.html31.html32.html33.html34.html35.html36.html37.html38.html39.html40.html41.html42.html43.html
