Brian Coleman came under fire as he became the only politician at City Hall not to give details of his bills, which include thousands of pounds for taxi journeys. Labour also faced embarrassment as fully itemised receipts were published for the first time in the Mayors new drive for greater transparency. Jeannette Arnold, the Labour chairwoman of a City Hall committee scrutinising expenses, is herself repaying public money spent on cabs for personal use. Mr Coleman has already faced criticism over his 8,000 taxi bill last year -- more than all the other members of the London Assembly put together. It included one 378 claim, most of which stemmed from him keeping the cab waiting at a banquet. Mr Coleman, a former chairman of the London Assembly, is the only one of 24 Assembly members not to comply with the request to voluntarily post their itemised bills by yesterday. He will be forced to give the details on 15 July when publication becomes mandatory, but sources close to the Mayor made clear his irritation at the failure to come clean. Mr Coleman, who was unavailable for comment, has told colleagues it would be more cost-effective to have a permanent City Hall car and driver for functions. Irritated: Boris Johnson Darlings low pay vow to head off revolt PLEASE RECYCLE YOUR COPY OF LITE RESPONSIBLY LONDONS favourite celebrity caf has been forced to close by the recession. Picasso, a small Italian coffee shop in the Kings Road, had the same decor as when it opened 50 years ago and customers ranging from Eric Clapton to Gordon Ramsay and Chelseas Joe Cole. Owner Alberto Barbieri said the congestion charge and a rent rise were mainly to blame. John Morgan-Evans of Unite, which represents 600 engineering, electrical and managerial staff, accused bosses of not being interested in negotiation. We have no option but to ballot for industrial action with a recommendation members vote in favour, he said. LU last week increased its offer to 1.5 per cent in the first year and RPI plus 0.5 per cent in year two. RMT, the largest Tube union, walked out last month and warns of more stoppages. PALISTAIR DARLING promised more help for the low paid today as Labour MPs threatened to inflict a defeat on the Government over the 10p tax furore. The Chancellor went to a weekly meeting of Labour MPs last night and asked to them to back away from the rebellion. He pledged to look for ways to help losers in this autumns pre-Budget report. He said today he would continue to do everything we can to assist low earners. However, with a vote on the Budget on a knife-edge ministers were being rushed back to Westminster. Labour whips say the rebellion is being joined by MPs who want to give a bloody nose to Gordon Brown. Tonights vote comes more than two years after the Prime Minister scrapped the ultra-low tax rate for the poorest paid in his final Budget as Chancellor. The move helped fund a 2p cut in income tax that benefited better-off groups. It would take only 32 rebels to inflict a defeat. Mr Darling said: Ninety per cent of households are fully compensated. Critics say 1.3million of the least well-off are still 1 a week poorer.Help: Alistair Darling I was chlamydia girl -- EastEndErs star KArA ToInTon, lEft, rEvEals hEr school nicknamE aftEr shE posEd for an advErt warning about sExual disEasEs His words hit me like a sledgehammer -- GAIl VEGAD, 47, has spEnt 30k on liposuction, tummy tucks and a brEast uplift aftEr hEr husband said shE was thE fattEst woman hEd EvEr bEEn with No sex for me, I just want to do the honourable thing -- PETEr AnDrE vows to rEmain cElibatE until his divorcE from katiE pricE DISTrIBUTIon HElPlInE: If you have any comments about the distribution of London Lite, ring 020 7651 5276, or email distribution@thelondonlite.co.uk On the Tube JOURNEY PLANNER For the easiest way to get around london visit tfl.gov. uk and click on Journey Planner london travel information call 020 7222 1234 24-hours Textphone 020 7918 3015 Travel alerts receive free real-time travel info on your mobile or email, subscribe at tfl.gov. uk/travelalerts for more information on oyster, visit oystercard.com lU Customer services for inquiries, call 0845 330 9880 between 8am and 8pm daily Congestion charging for payment details call 0845 900 1234 or visit cclondon. com london Travelwatch call 020 7505 9000 or visit londontravel watch.org.uk Roadwatch Telford road, new Southgate: lane restrictions, expect long delays.
