Doctors at Rotterdams Erasmus Medical Centre want the drugs to be given to everyone with a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes. THE family of Ian Tomlinson were told by a senior investigator he may have been assaulted by a man imper- sonating a police officer before he died, it was claimed today. The suggestion was made after video evidence showed the newspaper vendor, 47, being hit with a baton and pushed to the ground by a cop in riot gear. A City of London police officer investigating the death allegedly said Mr Tomlinson could have clashed with a protester dressed in police uniform before he collapsed at the G20 demonstrations on 1 April. The conversation is said to have taken place at a meeting with Mr Tomlinsons family and the Independent Police Complaints Commission on 8 April, hours after the footage was released. A source present at the meeting claimed the investigators comment was made after he was pressed on how the officer could be identified from the video. The claim is contained in a report by campaign group Inquest, which assists the families of people who die in police custody. The group also raises concerns that police delayed an ambu- lance from reaching Mr Tomlinson as he lay dying in Cornhill. It goes on to accuse the IPCC of an obvious error of judgment by fail- ing to launch an inquiry immediately -- meaning forensic evidence may have been lost -- and of not treating police accounts with scepticism. The IPCC said it could not discuss an ongoing investigation. Assistant Commissioner Cressida Dick has taken responsibility for the Mets specialist crime wing -- a 180,000-a-year role which is the third most powerful post in the force. The 48-year-old Oxford graduate was criticised for her actions as head of the operation that led to the police shooting of Mr de Menezes in Stockwell in 2005 after the innocent Brazilian was mistaken for a suicide bomber. However, she was exonerated of blame during the prosecution of the Met under health and safety laws. In a statement today, Mr De Menezess family said: Nobody has been held to account for Jeans death.
